I always find it quite interesting this time of year.  Kids are coming out of school having finished their GCSE or A Level exams, and really excited about the fact that they never have to do another exam again.  I get that, I really do.  I remember being forced to learn stuff and then feeling free when it suddenly becomes your own choice.

And for many – never doing another exam –  might be the choice they make, but that doesn’t mean that they should stop learning.

Learning is a lifelong event.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my entire life of learning. There is so much to learn and bring into your life.  And with each new thing that you absorb, you change how you think. And by changing how you think, you give these new ideas your own nuances.  And then your imagination pieces things together you find you can build something new.

Now that could be something simple like an idea about going somewhere different on holiday. Maybe this year you decide to go to the Himalayas or to take that African journey you always wanted to. Or maybe if you stretch yourself a little bit further you decide to do a triathlon or take up another sport.

Maybe you take these ideas and bring three or four of them together and you produce a new product or new service.  You just never know where this spark is going to come from which would make you the next big thing in the market.

So, are you going to make time to study, to improve yourself on a daily basis, to learn something new?

Or are you just going to watch Coronation Street, sit back and watch the world pass you by?
